Explorme Tunnel

Expose localhost with a real public URL.

Explorme Tunnel gives your local app a secure public address so you can test webhooks, share previews, and demo work-in-progress without deploying first.

Quick Start

If your app is already running on port 3000, this is the fastest path from local development to a public URL.

  1. 1. Install the CLI
Install the official command line client globally on your machine.
    npm install -g explorme-tunnel
  2. 2. Sign in or create an account
Use --register the first time. If your OTP is wrong or expires, finish later with explorme verify.
    explorme login --register
    explorme verify
    explorme login
  3. 3. Share a local port
Replace 3000 with the port your local server is listening on.
    explorme share 3000

Core Commands

  • explorme login signs into an existing account.
  • explorme login --register creates an account and sends your email OTP.
  • explorme verify verifies your email or lets you resend a fresh OTP.
  • explorme share 3000 opens a tunnel to your local port.
  • explorme status checks authentication and server reachability.
  • explorme whoami shows the authenticated account.
  • explorme logout removes your local session.

How The Flow Works

The CLI keeps a live authenticated WebSocket connection to the tunnel server. Public HTTP requests are forwarded over that socket to your machine, replayed against your localhost app, and the response is sent back to the visitor.

Step 1 Run explorme share 3000 while your local app is listening on localhost:3000.
Step 2 Explorme assigns a public URL like https://demo1234.tunnel.explorme.com.
Step 3 A browser, webhook provider, or teammate hits that public URL.
Step 4 The tunnel server forwards the request to your authenticated CLI session.
Step 5 The CLI replays the request to your local app and returns the response to the original caller.

Useful Examples

# Share a different app port
explorme share 8080

# Claim or reuse a preferred public URL
explorme share --url=https://myteam1234.tunnel.explorme.com 3000

# Resend a verification code, then enter the OTP
explorme verify --resend

# Check login state before sharing
explorme status

Before You Share

  • Your local app must already be running on the port you share.
  • Keep the CLI process open while the tunnel is active.
  • Stopping the CLI immediately stops the public tunnel.
  • If login fails, create an account first with explorme login --register.
  • If sharing says email verification is required, run explorme verify.
